General information

On behalf of the organizing committee, we are pleased to announce the 6th CFOSAT International Science Team Meeting, which will take place in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China from 18 to 20 November 2026. This meeting is sponsored by the National Satellite Ocean Application Service, Ministry of Natural Resources and College of Ocean and Meteorology, Guangdong Ocean University.

CFOSAT (The China France Oceanography Satellite) is a joint oceanographic satellite mission developed by China and France. It demonstrates how shared scientific ambition and international cooperation can advance our understanding of Earth’s dynamic ocean–atmosphere system. In the past 8 years, CFOSAT delivered unprecedented observations of ocean surface winds, wave spectra through its synergistic payloads - China’s SCAT wind scatterometer and France’s SWIM wave spectrometer, which providing global data crucial for improving ocean disaster monitoring, climate modeling, and numerical ocean prediction systems, etc.
The meeting aims to bring together scientists, researchers, and experts from the international community to share recent advances, scientific results, and applications related to CFOSAT observations. It will also provide a platform to discuss future research directions, foster collaborations, and enhance the scientific exploitation of CFOSAT data.
The main topics of the meeting will include, but are not limited to:

-  Ocean surface wind and wave observations

- Advances in CFOSAT data processing and validation

- Scientific applications in oceanography, meteorology, and climate studies

- Synergies with other satellite missions and in situ observations

- Future perspectives and mission developments

Participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
Detailed information regarding venues, registration, abstract submission, and the preliminary agenda will be provided in due course.
We warmly encourage all members of the CFOSAT Science Team and the broader scientific community to attend and contribute to this important event.
Anticipating our meeting in Zhanjiang.

Sincerely,
